Ujuzi Initiative works with young people, women, persons with disabilities and communities who may be vulnerable. Everyone who takes part in our work has the right to be safe. We do not tolerate abuse, exploitation, harassment or discrimination of any kind.
Who this applies to
All Members, Board members, staff, volunteers, mentors, consultants, partners and anyone representing the Initiative.
Our commitments
- Safe recruitment and a code of conduct signed by staff, volunteers and mentors.
- Mentoring and training in open, appropriate settings; no one-to-one contact with a child outside agreed arrangements.
- Informed consent before any story, photograph or personal data is used, and the right to withdraw it.
- Accessible, confidential ways to raise concerns, including anonymously.
- Prompt, fair and confidential handling of every concern, with referral to authorities where the law requires.
- No retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Raising a concern
Use our confidential reporting form on this website, or write to contact@ujuziinitiative.or.tz. If someone is in immediate danger, call the Police on 112 or the National Child Helpline on 116 (free).
Oversight
The Board of Directors oversees this policy, receives anonymised reports on concerns and their handling, and reviews the policy every year.
